GYFA ADVOCATES FOR SAFETY PROTOCOLS

GYFA, worked with Glastonbury's own Representative Jill Barry, in supporting HB 6534.  The Raised Bill will standardize safety protocols and Emergency Action Plans for the Interscholastic and Intramural activities.  GYFA was the only youth sports organization in the State to proactively submit testimony in support this important legislation.  While the legislation does not apply directly to youth sports, we believe "the dissemination of publicly published materials and templates will help to provide youth sport organizations access to the best practices and guidelines for emergency action plans."  It will further help "to ensure that ALL organizations, no matter their financial wherewithal, have access to these best practices. There should be no socio-economic barriers to ensuring the safety of participants and spectators at sporting events."

Click here for the full testimony of GYFA.  Please if you wish to support this Bill and we are more than happy to assist.
